A Dutch pattern book of garden ornament and layout, compiled by G. van Laar and published by Jacobus de Ruyter in Amsterdam in 1802 for landowners and gardeners building modest pleasure grounds. Hand-coloured engravings pair elevations of villas, gothic pavilions and dovecotes with tinted ground plans and bird's-eye site plans, giving designers clean line architecture, pink-and-grey plan washes, and stylised tree and shrub borders.
