Magic, pretended miracles, and remarkable natural phenomena
A popular instructional tract issued in 1855 by the Religious Tract Society and the American Sunday-School Union, explaining conjuring tricks, false miracles and natural curiosities to young and lay readers in Britain and Philadelphia. Small wood engravings show demonstration apparatus in plain outline: mirrored boxes, hinged panels, coiled electromagnets with arrows tracing current, and a suspended pendulum drawing star and scroll figures in a tray of sand.
