Manly Palmer Hall collection of alchemical manuscripts, 1500-1825
A gathering of manuscript leaves on alchemy, Hermeticism and Freemasonry, copied in Europe between about 1500 and 1825 and assembled by the occult writer Manly Palmer Hall, now at the Getty Research Institute. The pages carry hand-drawn talismanic seals and invented alphabets in gold, red and violet ink, set inside compass-drawn circles and ruled triangles useful as ornament, monogram or cipher lettering.
