Manly Palmer Hall collection of alchemical manuscripts, 1500-1825
A bound gathering of alchemical, Hermetic and Masonic manuscripts dated 1500–1825, assembled by the American occult writer Manly P. Hall and now at the Getty Research Institute, with texts attributed to Jakob Böhme, Sigismond Bacstrom and Cagliostro. The pictures here are the binding's marbled papers: combed and swirled shells in indigo, iron red, ochre and cream on coarse stock, usable as tiling backgrounds, cover papers and close-cropped texture fields.
