Manly Palmer Hall collection of alchemical manuscripts, 1500-1825
A gathering of hand-copied and hand-colored alchemical manuscripts assembled by collector Manly Palmer Hall, with texts attributed to Jakob Böhme, Sigismond Bacstrom and others, made in Europe between roughly 1500 and 1825 for practitioners of alchemy, Hermetism and Rosicrucian study. Watercolor emblems set crowned figures, red dragons, suns and moons, flasks and skulls on grassy mounds, with blank Latin banderoles and scrolled cartouches available as frames and labels.
