Manly Palmer Hall collection of alchemical manuscripts, 1500-1825
Hand-copied European alchemical, hermetic and masonic manuscripts dating from 1500 to 1825, gathered by the American occult writer Manly P. Hall and including material linked to Jakob Böhme, Sigismond Bacstrom and Cagliostro, kept for private study within initiatory circles. Drawings run from bare pencil outlines of flasks set in mountain and cloud landscapes to watercolour emblems like a squared circle in a petal rosette, plus ribboned penwork initials.
