Manly Palmer Hall collection of alchemical manuscripts, 1500-1825
A hand-illustrated alchemical manuscript from the Manly Palmer Hall collection, copied in Europe around 1600 and now at the Getty Research Institute, made for practitioners and collectors of Hermetic and Rosicrucian lore. Small watercolour miniatures set winged Mercury, crowned kings, nursing mothers, furnaces and mermaids in pale sandy landscapes with walled towns; useful for emblem figures, red-and-blue costume, and simple horizon backdrops.
