Manly Palmer Hall collection of alchemical manuscripts, 1500-1825
A group of handwritten European alchemical manuscripts, dating from about 1500 to 1825 and assembled by the occult writer Manly Palmer Hall, now at the Getty Research Institute and originally copied for practitioners of alchemy and Hermetic study. Numbered sequences show a round sealed flask holding fire, cloud banks, falling gold droplets and a descending bird, drawn in ink with pale washes under scrolled banner captions.
