Manuale di architettura
Giovanni Branca's Manuale di architettura, a pocket handbook of the classical orders first written in the early 1600s and reissued in Rome by the Barbiellini heirs in 1757 with plates engraved by Vasconi and Franceschini, made for masons, carpenters and building craftsmen. The engravings are half-profile elevations of cornices, columns, bases and capitals, keyed with letters and modular numbers against ruled measuring lines, offering crisp hatched mouldings and diagram-like proportional grids.
