A manual of photo-engraving : containing practical instructions for producing photo-engraved plates in relief-line and half-tone with chapters on dry plate development and half-tone color work
A trade manual on photo-engraving written by Harry Jenkins and issued by the Inland Printer in Chicago in 1896 for printers, engravers and platemakers learning relief-line and half-tone work. The plates are specimens chosen to test the process: profile portraits in half-tone screen and in pen hatching, a stark black-and-white brush drawing of a dancer, and vignettes framed in ruled circles, useful for screen textures, line-shading patterns and high-contrast figure silhouettes.
