A 1719 Padua edition of Sertorio Orsato's letters on ancient Latin inscriptions, printed by Giuseppe Comino with notes by Giovanni Antonio Volpi for antiquarian and epigraphic readers. The plates here are woodcut initial letters built from grotesques, lions, dragons, herms, urns and acanthus scrolls, cut in hard black line on white, usable as decorative capitals, spot ornaments or vector motifs.
