Massilia-Carthago sacrifice tablets of the worship of Baal. Reproduced in facsimile, edited, translated, and compared with the Levitical Code
A scholarly edition by James Middleton MacDonald, published in London by David Nutt in 1897, presenting facsimiles of the Phoenician sacrificial tariff inscriptions from Marseille and Carthage with translation and comparison to Levitical law, addressed to Semitic epigraphers and biblical scholars. The plates are sepia-toned photographic reproductions of broken stone slabs, dense with incised Phoenician letters and edged by chipped, irregular fracture lines, useful as texture fills, antique lettering reference, and stone-fragment silhouettes.
