Masters in art : a series of illustrated monographs
Masters in Art was a monthly series of illustrated monographs on individual painters and sculptors, issued by Bates and Guild in Boston from 1900 for students, teachers, and general readers. The plates are full-page halftone reproductions of paintings in soft grays: fresco processions under arcades, candlelit Dutch interiors, drawing-room groups, and crowded mythological scenes, useful as tonal figure-group source material.
