Materials and documents of architecture and sculpture : classified alphabetically
A plate-series reference work of architectural and sculptural details, adapted from the French Matériaux et documents d'architecture et de sculpture and issued in Chicago in 1915 for architects, draughtsmen and modellers, with entries arranged alphabetically by building element. The sepia-toned photolithographs isolate cartouches, clasps, keystones, consoles, carved friezes and hatched heraldic shields against blank grounds, each captioned with its building, city and architect, so single motifs can be lifted cleanly as cut-out ornament.
