Mathematical construction, informal number work for busy hands; grades one and two
Nora Louise Laffin's 1911 teacher's manual from A. Flanagan Company of Chicago, setting out paper-folding and cutting exercises that teach number work to first- and second-grade pupils. The line cuts are small black-and-white diagrams of squares and rectangles ruled with solid and dashed fold lines, lettered corners, numbered cells, and filled checkerboard blocks, useful as grid motifs, diagram marks, and pattern fills.
