An English translation by J. T. Desaguliers of Willem Jacob 's Gravesande's Newtonian physics textbook, printed in London in 1747 for students and lecturers following experimental demonstrations. Copperplate figures show apparatus in outline: numbered pumps, valves, siphons and a water tank whose jets trace arcing parabolas, all thin-line engraving against blank plate space with letter keys.
