The mathematical and philosophical works of the Right Reverend John Wilkins ... to which is prefix'd the author's life, and an account of his works
A posthumous collected edition of John Wilkins's mathematical and philosophical writings on astronomy, the plurality of worlds, mechanics and cryptography, printed in London in 1708 for a readership of natural philosophers and gentleman students. The 53 plates are small letterpress-set woodcut diagrams: lettered circles and orbits, a rayed sun ringed by orbiting bodies, wheels with radiating spokes, chords and tangents cutting through spheres, all printed in worn black line on foxed type pages, useful as geometric marks, orbital motifs and diagram labelling.
