The mathematical principles of natural philosophy
An English edition of Newton's Principia, translated by Andrew Motte and revised by William Davis with commentary by William Emerson, printed in London by H. D. Symonds in 1803 for students and readers of mechanics and celestial mechanics. The plates are letterpress-page woodcut and engraved diagrams: circles, ellipses and spheroids crossed by chords, radii and dotted axes, all labelled with serif capitals, offering designers clean line geometry and lettered construction figures on foxed laid paper.
