A 1904 classroom manual on mat and slat weaving, written by Mrs. E. S. Fairbanks with Lou Keakley, Delia A. Finn and Mary L. Lent and issued by the American Kindergarten Supply House in Manistee, Michigan, for primary and kindergarten teachers. The plates are numbered rectangular diagrams of woven grid patterns printed in coarse black on cream, giving stepped checkerboard, cross, and zigzag motifs that read as ready-made pixel borders and repeat tiles.
