Maya religion and mythology
A late nineteenth-century American scholarly study of Maya deities, calendar signs and zodiac lore, compiled by Charles P. Bowditch and Stansbury Hagar for antiquarians and early Americanists. The plates are hand-redrawn line tracings of codex and monument glyphs — seated figures, profile heads in cartouches, day-signs — in thick, even black outline on plain paper, usable as flat silhouettes, badge shapes or ornament motifs.
