Nathaniel Bowditch's annotated English translation of Laplace's Mécanique céleste, printed in Boston in 1829 for American astronomers and students of celestial mechanics. The figures are small letter-labelled line diagrams set into the text: angled coordinate axes, spherical triangles with arc labels, orbital radii sweeping from a focus, and a wireframe box in oblique projection, usable as spare geometric line art.
