Mechanica, siue, Motus scientia analytice exposita
Leonhard Euler's Mechanica, published in Latin by the Academy of Sciences press at St. Petersburg in 1736, set out the motion of point masses analytically for mathematicians and physicists. The 50 engraved plates carry lettered geometric diagrams of curves, tangents, chords and force triangles, each figure numbered and floating on open paper, useful for line-only mathematical ornament and abstract arc-and-axis compositions.
