Melba's gift book of Australian art and literature
A wartime charity anthology of Australian writing and art, edited by Franklin Peterson and sold in Melbourne by George Robertson in 1915 to raise funds through the singer Nellie Melba for Belgian relief. Pen-and-ink headpieces and vignettes set solid black trees and stippled stony ground against flat white cloud banks, alongside softer tonal plates of figures in reeds and water.
