Memoirs of the Geological Survey of India
Memoirs of the Geological Survey of India, issued in Calcutta from 1859 by order of the Governor-General, reported survey findings on rock formations and mineral deposits for colonial administrators, engineers and geologists. The plates are large folding lithographed maps, hand-tinted in bands of blue, green and ochre that trace ridges across contour hatching, with engraved title cartouches, scale bars and keyed colour legends.
