Memorandum on clay discs called "Spindle Whorls" and Votive Seals found at Sankisa, Behar, and other Buddhist ruins in the North Western provinces of India
An 1880 Calcutta archaeological memorandum by J. H. Rivett-Carnac recording clay discs, so-called spindle whorls, and votive seals excavated at Sankisa and other Buddhist sites in Bihar and the North Western Provinces, written for antiquarian societies. Numbered lithographic plates show each disc face-on: radial and pinwheel petal patterns, concentric rings, chevron rims, and inscribed seal characters, useful as circular ornament and stamp motifs.
