Memorials of Christie's : a record of art sales from 1766 to 1896
A two-volume history of the London auction house Christie's, compiled by bibliographer W. Roberts and published by G. Bell and Sons in 1897 for collectors and the art trade. Wood-engraved line illustrations record sale-room objects — lidded urns with herm heads, a scrolled rococo mantel clock, putti-painted vases on plinths — plus foliate headpiece strips usable as rules and ornaments.
