Men of New Haven in cartoon
A 1906 collection of caricature portraits of New Haven businessmen, lawyers, clergy and civic figures, drawn in pen and ink and issued locally for a Connecticut readership that would recognize every sitter. Each full-page figure has a large head on a small body, drawn in dense crosshatching, and is surrounded by small props naming the man's trade — law books, sheet music, ships, buildings, labelled sacks and signboards — giving designers ready-made emblem clusters, hand-lettered tags and hatched suit textures.
