The Merrow system of crocheting machinery and methods for finishing the edges of fabrics
A trade manual issued in 1889 by the Merrow Machine Company of Hartford, Connecticut, showing its crochet-edging machines and the stitches they produce for knit-goods manufacturers. The plates are numbered close-up engravings of ribbed knit fabric with worked edges, giving dense vertical rib textures, looped and zigzag border stitches, and trailing thread ends usable as pattern fills and rules.
