Mesdames nos aieules : dix siecles d'elegances
A popular illustrated history of French women's dress across ten centuries, written and drawn by Albert Robida and published in Paris by the Librairie illustrée in 1891 for a general readership. The pen drawings are half-length female figures in period costume, each set against a flat stippled shadow, showing ruffs, bare-shouldered lace bodices, Empire drapery and plumed hats in crisp line suited to cutout use.
