Metals and metal-working in old Japan
An archaeological and metallurgical study by William Gowland, mining engineer and excavator of Japanese tumuli, printed for the Japan Society of London in 1915 for antiquarians and metalworkers. Halftone photographs record excavated bronze bells, sword blades, gilt harness and armour fragments, and ranks of earthenware jars, plus line diagrams of furnaces and casting moulds; useful for corroded-metal texture and artefact silhouettes.
