A technical manual on microscope construction and use by C. R. Goring and Andrew Pritchard, published in London by Whitaker and Co. in 1837 for instrument makers, opticians and working microscopists. The plates are line-engraved optical diagrams: lens sections drawn as narrow lenses, dotted and solid ray paths crossing at focal points, long tapering cones of light, lettered reference points and a gas flame drawn as radiating strokes, useful as sparse geometric line work on cream paper.
