Mikrokósmos = Paruus mundus
Mikrokósmos, or Paruus mundus, is a Latin emblem book with verses by Laurens van Haecht Goidtsenhoven and engravings after Gerard de Jode, issued at Arnhem in 1610 for educated readers of moralized classical and biblical exempla. Each plate is a small horizontal scene keyed by a capital letter: muscular figures in tunics, armour and mantles set against domed cities, temple porches and open country, modelled in fine hatching that leaves broad blank sky.
