A photo-lithographic facsimile of Sir Henry Goodyer's 1618 emblem book The Mirrovr of Maiestie, edited by Henry Green and James Croston and issued in 1870 by Manchester's Holbein Society for antiquarian subscribers and students of emblems and heraldry. The plates pair engraved coats of arms — shields encircled by Garter belts under coronets, quartered charges, crosses, lions, chevrons — with emblematic devices and verse, giving designers ready-made heraldic frames, motto ribbons and compact black-line badges.
