Miscellanies relating to the arts
A London art miscellany of 1785 issued by the engraver-publisher Charles Taylor, collecting essays and plates for artists, drawing masters and amateur students of design. The plates are red-ink stipple engravings in the manner of Bartolozzi: allegorical women, putti and classical busts set in oval medallions hung from ribbon bows and ringed with laurel, useful for sanguine-toned figure vignettes, cartouche frames and ready-made oval surrounds.
