Mittelalterliche Plastik in Venedig
An art-historical survey of medieval sculpture in Venice written by Hans von der Gabelentz and published by K. W. Hiersemann in Leipzig in 1903, addressed to scholars and students of Italian Romanesque and Gothic carving. The plates are halftone photographs of marble reliefs, carved doorway jambs, figured tympana and screen panels, offering interlace knotwork, rosettes, palmette borders and arcaded narrative registers, plus strong raking-light shadow patterns for texture and silhouette work.
