[Model Buch : Teil 1.-2
A pattern book for embroiderers and lacemakers, issued by J.C. Weigel's widow in Nuremberg in 1728 from plates associated with the print publisher Paul Fürst, numbered in Roman numerals for working at the frame. The woodcut plates are counted grids of black stitches on white, giving repeating carnations, pomegranates, scrolling vines, rosette medallions and narrow heart borders that convert directly into pixel grids, tiling motifs and rules.
