A scientific periodical issued in London by R. Hardwicke from 1869 as the transactions of the Royal Microscopical Society, carrying histological research papers for microscopists and naturalists in Britain and abroad. Its plates are fine-line lithographs on cream stock, showing cell clusters, spore masses and moss shoots with lettered detail figures of leaves, capsules and cell walls, useful for stippled circular textures, sparse figure-number layouts and repeating cellular patterns.
