Morphy's games of chess, and Frere's problem tournament
A collection of Paul Morphy's games and Thomas Frere's problem tournament, compiled by Frere and published in New York by T.W. Strong in 1859 for chess players and puzzle solvers. The plates are wood-engraved board diagrams: hatched dark squares with small solid figures of kings, queens, knights and pawns, useful as grid patterns, game-piece silhouettes, and printed-diagram texture.
