Mosaicall philosophy : grounded upon the essentiall truth or eternal sapience
Robert Fludd's Mosaicall Philosophy, an English treatise on biblical cosmology and occult natural philosophy printed for Humphrey Moseley in London in 1659, two decades after the author's death, for scholarly readers of Hermetic and Paracelsian thought. The pictures here are woodcut factotum initials, mostly the letter I, set in square blocks where a plain letterform is surrounded by curling acanthus leaves, buds and tendrils rendered in coarse parallel hatching against white grounds.
