Mother-play and nursery songs;
Friedrich Froebel's Mutter- und Koselieder in English translation, issued in Boston by Lothrop, Lee & Shepard in 1906 under Elizabeth Peabody's editorship, as finger-plays, songs and picture-lessons for mothers and kindergarten teachers. Each plate is a fine outline engraving in which a block of verse sits inside a frame built from lilies, wheat, tree trunks, Gothic arches and small narrative vignettes of villagers, families and church interiors, offering ready-made text borders, linear foliage and crowd scenes drawn without shading.
