Méthode de composition ornementale
A two-volume drawing manual by Eugène Grasset, published in Paris in 1905 for students of ornament and decorative designers. The plates are line diagrams that break ornament down into its parts: fans of single curves rising from a baseline, nested spirals and scrolls, dotted construction guides with lettered points, and grids of repeat patterns, all in flat black on cream, ready to lift as vector-clean curve studies and layout skeletons.
