Mundi lapis lydius, siue, Vanitas per veritat falsi accusata & conuicta
A Latin emblem book by the Flemish cleric Antoine de Bourgogne, engraved by Andries Pauli and printed in Antwerp by the widow of Joannes Cnobbaert in 1639 for educated Catholic readers. The plates are small oval and octagonal copper engravings holding allegorical scenes — a printing shop, panelled rooms, roadside robbery, overgrown ruins — usable as vignettes, cartouche frames and hatched landscape backdrops.
