Muster altdeutscher Leinenstickerei : II
A pattern portfolio of old German linen embroidery compiled by Julius Lessing, director of Berlin's Kunstgewerbemuseum, and issued by F. Lipperheide in Berlin in 1882 for needleworkers, designers and museum copyists. The plates show counted cross-stitch and darned motifs printed dark on woven ground, giving grid-built florals, interlace bands, borders and repeating fills that convert directly into pixel patterns, tiles and monochrome ornament.
