My lady's cabinet, decorated with drawings and miniatures
A gift album of reproduced drawings and miniatures issued by Sampson Low in London in 1873, aimed at drawing-room readers and collectors of small-scale pictures. The eighty plates are soft tonal halftones set in oval mounts with pale engraved borders: portrait heads of women, moonlit harbours with masted ships, and framed river landscapes usable as vignettes, frames, or textured grounds.
