My school and my gospel
Sir Hubert von Herkomer's account of the art school he ran at Bushey and the principles he taught there, published by A. Constable in London in 1908 for students, artists and readers of art literature. Plates reproduce his paintings, etchings and pupils' studies in soft tonal halftone: crowded almshouse and chapel interiors, figures in bare winter landscapes, and charcoal head studies.
