The mystery of the oriental rug; the mystery of the rug, the prayer rug, some advice to purchasers of oriental rugs
A collector's guide to Oriental rugs by George Griffin Lewis, published by J. B. Lippincott in Philadelphia and London in 1914 for American buyers and dealers. Halftone photographs show whole rugs flat-on: prayer arches, medallions, lattice fields, animal and bird figures, and stacked borders, all reduced to high-contrast black and white patterns usable as repeat motifs, frames, and textures.
