Myths and marvels of astronomy
Richard A. Proctor's 1878 collection of essays for general readers, published in London by Chatto and Windus, examining astrology, pyramid lore and other popular beliefs about the sky against the astronomy of his day. The plates reproduce astrological house charts: squares crossed by diagonals, each triangular cell filled with letterpress lists of significations set at angles, on cream paper — usable as ready-made geometric text layouts, diagram frames and rotated-type specimens.
