Volume from Justin Winsor's eight-part scholarly history of America, published by Houghton Mifflin in Boston and New York from 1884 for libraries and historians. The plates are line-engraved facsimiles of Revolutionary War campaign maps, with hachured hills, troop-position blocks, river outlines and engraved place lettering — usable as period cartographic texture, hand-drawn terrain marks and map typography.
