Crystal growth from the vapor phase: Experiment MA-085
A 1977 NASA technical report by H. Wiedemeier and collaborators on experiment MA-085, which grew germanium selenide-type crystals from the vapor phase aboard the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, written for materials scientists and flight-experiment engineers. The plates are coarse-screened black-and-white photographs and photomicrographs: crystal platelets in profile, dendritic and terraced surface textures, blown-out diffraction spots with radiating flare, and hard silhouettes of broken crystal shards usable as high-contrast abstract shapes and grain textures.
