Natural magick
Natural Magick is the 1658 London English translation of Giambattista della Porta's Magia naturalis, a compendium of household recipes, metallurgy, optics, distilling and other experiments printed for Thomas Young and Samuel Speed and sold to curious general readers. The woodcuts are small letter-keyed diagrams set into the text: sectioned ovoids, bell-shaped vessels on cylinders, hatched rock and crystal forms, and conical shapes hung with ruled lines, useful as sparse line figures and alphabetical labelling.
